What Happened to Sarah?

Sonia Petersen (MAppSc, GradCertSocInn) has transversed worlds where shoes are optional. That has given her the time and space to delve into her passion as a freelance fiction writer, completing her contemporary Australian fiction manuscript early 2024, with view to publishing in 2025.

Sonia started dabbling in writing with articles and reports for the wine and tourism industry before sinking her teeth into non-fiction work. Her work-in-progress, the Australian Foods of Provenance cookbook, was recognised by her industry leading to Sonia becoming a finalist in the QLD Rural Women's Award in 2018.

Her scholarly journey ever since then has been a whirlwind, culminating in a Masters of Applied Science by research degree and submission of a 280 page thesis in molecular biology and authoring a Springer Nature book volume chapter titled: Role of Novel Microorganisms for Maintaining Soil Carbon Pool and Plant Health, a Graduate Certificate in Social Innovation (Business) and continuing on with a Master of Professional Accounting. Each project requiring vastly different sets of writing skills.

Sonia regularly blogs about her busy life, her organic farming, native food botanical growing, winemaking, cheesemaking and extensive travels on her website Barefoot FarmHer.

When she is not writing, you can often find Sonia rounding up her children, husband and friends for a nature adventure, or tasting the finest food and wine in as many restaurants as she can visit. Sonia really is your ultimate epicurean.
